11 Old and Grungy Film Textures
The following textures were taken in the mid-late 19th century using one of the earliest film techniques: The Daguerreotype. I originally intended this to be a set of Polaroid textures, that was before I stumbled across a bunch of old public domain portraits that are freely available on the web. I thought: "these would work great as textures for layers in digital photos." The only problem was: the photographs had people as the main subject, disrupting the awesome and rich textures of the film.
So I simply removed the people in photoshop. Voila, genuine 19th century film textures for you guys to use. I hope you like them!
To the people in the photographs: I'm sorry for erasing you from history.

More fabulous stuff. I love vintage photographs and these will be fun to use! Thank you. :-)
Wow. Amazing textures. Thanks
YOU are the photoshop uber-champ, and my official digital hero. I've got scads of old photos, often wished I could 'take' only the texture for another image...but alas, my fledgling photoshop skills were not up to the challenge. These are amazing. Thanks so much. BTW, the plant textures and first listing of old book texture links aren't working just so's ya know. Looks like a weird website glitch.
Huge thanks,

You are a good person.
Awesome, thanks for doing these. I don't have an immediate use for them but they are inspiring me enough to go find a project to use them on.
Thanks so much for these fabulous textures. I have a flower photography site that will lend itself to your work - some black and white photos I've been wondering what angle to take for another page. This is definitely it! Eventually I'll start a "photography craft" section and you'll be getting a link.... Thanks a lot. ( I'll return later to send you to my site for a look.)
