Anatomy of a Dumpster: 12 Textures

Every once in a while when I'm out shooting textures for this site, I will happen upon an item or area that just oozes quality textures, whether it be an abandoned house or a dry lake bed or an old junkyard.

Today's textures come from a single dumpster I found in an alley a couple of weeks ago. I spent 10-15 minutes shooting every angle of the dumpster (I'm sure the people walking by thought I was a little "special"), but the fruits of my labor were worth it. I came out of the impromptu photo shoot with the following 12 textures.

Just click on each image to download the high-res version or download them all in a zip file by clicking on the link at the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

great textures. Love them. Just wonder if I have to wash them before use. LOL

I had my elder sister take shots of each side of a dumpster at her apartment complex. I needed them for realistic digital 3D project. As for texture, the dumpster was in too good of shape. I needed some rust and funk for it. Thanks to your willingness to photograph that dumpster and your generosity, I have some gunge texture to dirty up my dumpster. Much appreciated!

You know what this reminds me of? The film 'American Beauty'. I hope you've seen it. Your appreciation for the beauty to be found in objects most people would consider ugly, like a dumpster, is just like the young male character in that film, when he films a plastic bag. Very cool.
